What expertise and facilities does our school have in relation to SEND?

The educational/emotional/social needs of pupils at Hardwicke are diverse and staff have a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to help to meet their needs. This includes expertise in:

  • Literacy and Numeracy difficulties
  • ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders)
  • Speech and language difficulties
  • Behaviour difficulties
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia)
  • some physical disabilities
  • Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD)

All staff attend relevant and regular training to ensure that their knowledge and skills are up to date.

Our school run a variety of intervention programmes for children with SEND which are delivered in groups or individually. These interventions are monitored to ensure that they meet the needs of the children and are effective in helping the children to make progress. If your child is taking part in an intervention it will be documented on their plan.

Hardwicke Parochial Primary Academy value the importance of all pupils to become as independent as possible. We have recently made some adjustments to the building to make it more accessible to wheelchair users. We now have ramps in some doorways and an electric push-button door leading onto the infant playground. There is also a disabled toilet/care suite which has a height adjustable changing table.
